Although both metalworking and sheet metal fabrication are processes applied to metal materials, they differ significantly in several respects. First, in terms of the materials processed, metalworking encompasses a broader scope, covering a wide variety of raw metals and semi-finished products; sheet metal fabrication, conversely, focuses primarily on processing metal sheets.
Second, regarding processing techniques, metalworking involves a diverse array of methods-such as casting, forging, and heat treatment-whereas sheet metal fabrication relies predominantly on processes such as stamping, shearing, and bending. Finally, in terms of application scope, metalworking spans numerous industries and sectors, whereas sheet metal fabrication is more specifically applied within particular segments of the manufacturing industry.
